It is basically a salad made with tomatoes, cucumber, olive oil, olives and feta and there are variations around the globe. For dressing: | ||
Red wine vinegar | 1 1/2 Tablespoon | |
Lemon juice | 1/2 Tablespoon | |
Extra virgin olive oil | 5 Tablespoon | |
Pepper | To Taste | |
Sea salt | To Taste | |
Dried oregano | 1 Teaspoon | |
Garlic | 2 Clove (10 gm) , finely chopped | |
For salad: | ||
Chopped romaine lettuce | 3 Cup (48 tbs) | |
Chopped tomatoes | 1 Cup (16 tbs) | |
Chopped yellow bell pepper | 1 Cup (16 tbs) | |
Chopped green bell pepper | 1 Cup (16 tbs) | |
Cucumber | 1 Cup (16 tbs) , deseeded (chopped) | |
Black olives | 1/2 Cup (8 tbs) | |
Crumbled feta cheese | 1/2 Cup (8 tbs) | |
Red onion | 1 Small , slice (soaked in vinegar) |
FOR THE DRESSING:
MAKING:
1.In a jar, add the red wine vinegar, lemon juice, extra virgin olive oil, freshly grounded pepper, sea salt and dried oregano and whish all the ingredients together.
2.Add the freshly chopped garlic to the dressing and give it a good whisk.
3. Close the lid of the jar and let it cool in the refrigerator.
FOR SALAD:
MAKING:
1.In a bowl, add the chopped lettuce, chopped tomatoes, yellow and green bell pepper, chopped cucumber (deseeded), black olives, crumbled feta cheese and the red onion and give it a toss.
2.Add the dressing to the salad and give it a nice toss.
SERVING:
3.The Greek salad is ready to be served. Do not forget to serve the salad chilled.
