Semolina And Yogurt Slices
|Semolina||2 1⁄2 Cup (40 tbs)|
|Yoghurt||2 Cup (32 tbs)|
|Sugar||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)|
|Butter||1⁄4 Pound, melted|
|Baking powder||1 Teaspoon|
|Atter syrup||2 Cup (32 tbs)|
Mix together the semolina, yoghurt, sugar, butter and baking powder.
Spread the mixture evenly in a well greased 25 cm (10 in) baking tray and bake in a 350Â°F (180Â°C) oven until cooked through and lightly brown on top for approx 50 minutes.
Remove from the oven and while still hot cut diagonal lines through the cooked mixture to make diamond- shaped slices, then pour the cool Atter syrup over the top.
Serve hot or cold, either by itself or with Ushta (see page 22) or whipped cream.
Variation - Substitute 1/2 cup desiccated coconut for 1/2 cup of the semolina.
Decorate each piece with an almond.
