Preheat oven to 350° F.and grease a 9-inch baking dish.
Core and slice pears (do not peel unless skins are tough or if you want the dessert to be especially fancy).
Arrange the slices of pears in attractive rows in the prepared dish.
Mix honey and vanilla and drizzle over pears; top with the almonds and dot with butter.
Bake in preheated oven 10 to 15 minutes or until pears are tender.
Baste frequently during the baking, using the accumulated juice.
