Christmas Mulled Wine

Ingredients
  Water 1⁄4 Pint
  Grated nutmeg 1 Teaspoon
  Ground cinnamon 1⁄2 Teaspoon
  Demerara sugar 4 Tablespoon
  Lemon 1 , thinly peeled rind
  Orange 1 , thinly peeled rind
  Red wine 2 Bottle (2 l)
  Liqueur 6 Tablespoon
Directions

MAKING
1) In a saucepan, place together water, spices, sugar and citrus rinds.
2) Simmer the sugar mixture for 10 minutes to extract the flavours.
3) Stream in wine and liqueur if used.
4) Allow to simmer gently, but do not boil.
5) Pass the wine mixture through cheesecloth.
6) Transfer into warm punch bowl.

SERVING
7) Serve piping hot.
