Mulled Wine

Ingredients
  Water 1⁄2 Pint (300 ml)
  Sugar 6 Ounce (175 g)
  Lemon 1 Small
  Cloves 4
  Claret 750 Milliliter (1 bottle)
  Port 325 Milliliter (Cheap, 1/2 bottle)
  Mixed spice 1 Pinch
  Cinnamon stick 1
  Lemon 1 , sliced
  Grated nutmeg 1⁄2 Teaspoon (Little)
Directions

MAKING
1) In a large pan, add water and sugar and gently heat, stirring till dissolved.
2) Thinly pare the lemon rind.
3) Cut and discard the white pith.
4) Push the cloves into the lemon pulp and add to the pan.
5) Stir in the claret and port.
6) Add in the mixed spice and cinnamon stick.
7) Allow to slowly boil, then remove from the heat.

SERVING
8) Add in the sliced lemon and sprinkle with grated nutmeg.
