Dr Johnson's Choice
|Red wine||1 Bottle (1 l)|
|Sugar lumps||12 (Or Use According To Taste)|
|Boiling water||600 Milliliter (6 Deciliter)|
|Curacao||150 Milliliter (1.5 Deciliter)|
|Grated nutmeg||1 Teaspoon (Leveled) (Use A Little)|
A very old and popular mull of the eighteenth century.
Put the wine, sugar and cloves into a saucepan and heat slowly almost to boiling point.
Add the boiling water, the Curacao, and brandy if used.
Stir and taste, adding more sugar if you wish.
Immediately pour into glasses and grate a sprinkling of nutmeg on top of each.
If for any reason this mull has to be kept warm, remove the cloves, otherwise their flavour may become too dominant.
