Microwaved Pears In Red Wine

Ingredients
  Ripe pears 4 (D'Anjou Or Cornice)
  Red wine 1 Cup (16 tbs)
  Water 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)
  Sugar 1 Cup (16 tbs)
  Ginger 1 Teaspoon
Directions

Arrange pears in serving dish so that they stand upright.
Set aside.
Combine wine, water, sugar and ginger in 1-quart measure.
MICROWAVE 3 to 5 MINUTES on HIGH, or until boiling.
Pour sauce over pears.
Cover with plastic wrap.
MICROWAVE 4 to 5 MINUTES on HIGH, or until pears have softened but still hold their shape.
Let stand 5 minutes, covered.
