Mock Pink Champagne

Ingredients
  Sugar 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)
  Water 1 Cup (16 tbs)
  Grapefruit juice 1 Cup (16 tbs)
  Orange juice 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)
  Grenadine syrup 1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)
  Ginger ale 28 Ounce, chilled (1 Bottle)
  Lemon peel twists 4
  Maraschino cherries 4 (With Stems Attached)
Directions

Combine sugar and water in saucepan; simmer uncovered, stirring constantly, till sugar is dissolved, about 3 minutes.
Cool.
Mix with fruit juices and grenadine syrup in punch bowl.
Chill.
Just before serving, add ginger ale, pouring it slowly down side of bowl.
Serve over ice in sherbet glasses.
Trim each with peel and a cherry.
Makes 6 1/2 cups.
