Luchow's May Wine Bowl
|Dried woodruff||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)|
|Superfine granulated sugar||1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)|
|Cognac||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)|
|Wine||2 Bottle (2 l) (Rhine Or Moselle)|
|Champagne/Charged water||1 Bottle (1 l)|
|Whole strawberries||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs) (Use Fresh)|
1. Tie the woodruff in a small piece of cheesecloth. Place it in a bowl and add the sugar, cognac and one-half bottle of the wine. Cover closely and let stand overnight.
2. Strain the woodruff-wine mixture into a punch bowl containing ice cubes or a large chunk of ice. Add the remaining still wine, champagne and strawberries.
