Place pears in a dish in such a way that they stand upright.
Combine wine, water, sugar and ginger in 1 quart measure.
MICROWAVE 3 to 5 MINUTES on HIGH, or until boiling.
Pour sauce over pears.
Cover with plastic wrap.
MICRO WAVE 4 to 5 MINUTES on HIGH, or until pears have softened but still hold their shape.
Let stand 5 minutes, covered.
