|Butter/Margarine||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs) (Room Temperature)|
|Whole wheat flour||1 1⁄2 Cup (24 tbs)|
|Sugar||1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)|
|Anise seed/Fennel and / grated orange peel||1 Teaspoon|
|Cold water||1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)|
In mixing bowl, combine all ingredients except water.
Beat at low speed or cut with pastry blender until particles resemble coarse crumbs.
Gradually stir in water while stirring with fork just until dough forms.
Chill, if necessary, for easier handling.
Roll out dough, half at a time, on floured surface to 10-in square.
Sprinkle lightly with sugar, if desired.
Cut into 2-in squares.
Place 5 to 9 squares close together in ring on wax paper on microwave-proof baking sheet, large dinner plate, pie plate or paper plate.
Place 1 to 3 in center.
Microwave at High 1 1/2 to 4 minutes, or until dry and slightly firm to touch, rotating 1/4 turn after 1 and 2 minutes, then every 30 seconds.
