Cracked Wheat With Filberts
|Chopped onion||1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs) (50 Milliliter)|
|Filberts||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs), sliced (125 Milliliter)|
|Butter/Chicken fat||45 Milliliter (3 Tablespoon)|
|Cracked wheat||1 Cup (16 tbs) (250 Milliliter)|
|Chicken broth||750 Milliliter (3 Cup)|
Saute onion and filberts in hot butter until onion is tender and filberts golden.
Stir in the cracked wheat, thyme, nutmeg and chicken broth.
Bring to a boil and cover.
Simmer until wheat is tender, about 30 to 35 minutes or pour into a closely covered casserole and bake at 350F (180C) for 40 minutes.
Stir once or twice.
Taste and season with salt and freshly ground pepper.
