Melt and cool the butter.
In a large bowl, mix together the dates, walnuts, raw sugar, flour and cinnamon.
Add the melted butter and knead the mixture into a dough with your hands.
Make large walnut-sized balls with the dough and mould them into elongated shapes by squeezing each ball gently on the palm.
Cook on an ungreased tray in a moderate oven at 350Â°F (180Â°C) until lightly brown, for 20-30 minutes.
When cool, remove from the tray and liberally sift with icing sugar.
