Black Walnut Kisses
|Egg whites||2 (At Room Temperature)|
|Cream of tartar||1⁄2 Teaspoon|
|Sugar||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)|
|Chopped black walnuts||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)|
|Vanilla extract||1⁄2 Teaspoon|
1. Preheat oven to 275°F. In a small bowl, beat egg whites, cream of tartar, and salt with an electric mixer on high speed until frothy. Very slowly beat in sugar, a little at a time, until all has been incorporated and whites are very stiff. Fold in black walnuts and vanilla.
2. Drop by heaping teaspoonfuls 2 inches apart onto generously greased cookie sheets. Bake 10 minutes. Turn off oven and let cookies stand in closed oven for 2 hours. Remove cookies from sheets and store in a tightly covered container.
