2. In a cup, combine mayonnaise and mustard or salad dressing and spoon it over the bread.
3. Spread cheese over each of 6 bread slices, then place spicy ham and top it with remaining bread. Spread margarine or butter outside sandwiches.
4. Bake bread until it turns golden and cheese starts melting. Halve the bread slices diagonally and arrange 3 of them on each serving plate.
5. Serve ham and cheese waffles with a bean salad, deviled eggs, and milk.
