|Shortening||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)|
|Packed brown sugar||1 Cup (16 tbs)|
|Sifted flour||1 1⁄2 Cup (24 tbs)|
|Baking powder||2 Teaspoon|
|Milk||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)|
|Chopped walnuts||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)|
|Chopped candied ginger||2 Tablespoon|
|Whipping cream||1 Cup (16 tbs), whipped|
Cream the shortening and brown sugar in a bowl.
Add the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
Sift the flour, baking powder, salt and spices together and add to creamed mixture alternately with milk.
Stir in the walnuts.
Bake in a hot waffle iron until brown.
Fold the candied ginger into the whipped cream and serve on waffles.
