Sifted all purpose flour 2 Cup (32 tbs)
  Baking powder 1 Teaspoon
  Salt 1⁄2 Teaspoon
  Baking soda 1⁄4 Teaspoon
  Butter/Margarine 3⁄4 Cup (12 tbs) (1 1/2 Sticks)
Firmly packed brown sugar 3⁄4 Cup (12 tbs)
Unsweetened chocolate square 2 , melted
  Egg 1
  Vanilla 1 Teaspoon
  Milk 1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)
  Granulated sugar 1 Tablespoon
Walnut halves 1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)
Directions

1. Measure flour, baking powder, salt and baking soda into sifter.
2. Beat butter or margarine and brown sugar in a medium-size bowl, until fluffy; beat in melted chocolate, egg, vanilla and milk. Sift in dry ingredients, one third at a time, blending well to make a soft dough. Chill several hours, or until firm enough to handle.
3. Roll dough, one level teaspoonful at a time, between palms of hands, into round balls; roll in granulated sugar. Place, 3 inches apart, on ungreased cooky sheets; flatten to 1/4-inch thickness with bottom of a glass. Top each with a walnut half.
4. Bake in moderate oven (350°) 12 minutes, or until firm. Remove the wafers carefully to wire racks with a spatula; cool.
