Insert a whole clove into each onion.
Combine vegetables in a 1 1/2 quart shallow casserole.
Sprinkle with the salt, pepper, and monoso-dium glutamate.
Pour a mixture of the melted butter, lemon juice, sugar, and garlic over vegetables.
Tightly cover casserole.
Bake at 325Â°F about 1 hour.
Mix in parsley; continue baking, uncovered, until vegetables are tender.
