Ever Ready Vegetable Combo

  Chicken broth 1 Quart
  Cabbage 1 Medium
  Onions 4
  Carrots 4
  Salt To Taste
  Pepper To Taste

Use homemade or canned chicken broth or mixture. Let it chill until fat comes to the top; then lift fat off and discard. Bring broth to a boil. Add vegetables (use more or less of each to suit yourself), and cook until vegetables are tender-crisp, 20 to 30 minutes. Taste, and add salt and pepper as desired. At this point, you should have moist, tender vegetables, but no excess soup. Serve as a hot mixed vegetable. This "combo" will keep in the refrigerator at least a week, and may be spooned out of storage container and eaten cold or reheated, whichever you prefer.
