1. Preheat the oven to 400° F.
2. Scrub and wash potatoes in cold water
3. Arrange the potatoes in their skin, on a roasting rack or in a pan.
4. Bake in the preheated oven for 45 minutes to 1 hour until fork tender.
5. Remove from the oven and place on a serving platter.
6. Generously dollop butter over them
7. Sprinkle with salt and pepper.
8. Serve piping hot.
