|Soft butter||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)|
|Unblanched almonds||1 Cup (16 tbs)|
|Sifted all purpose flour||1 Cup (16 tbs)|
|Ground cinnamon||1 1⁄2 Teaspoon|
|Ground cloves||1⁄2 Teaspoon|
Cream butter and 1/2 cup sugar until fluffy.
Put almonds through finest blade of food chopper and add to butter.
Sift together flour, 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon, and cloves.
Add to butter mixture and pat into buttered pan (13 x 9 x 2 inches).
Bake in preheated moderate oven (350° F.) for 20 to 25 minutes.
While hot, sprinkle with mixture of 3 tablespoons sugar and remaining cinnamon.
Cut into 1 1/2 inch squares.
