I liked the sweet potato layer on top. Like you said - the butter on top must have made the potato slices very crispy. I might add some of our Indian spices to this too. My list of "what to make on Thanksgiving" is getting very interesting :) Thanks for this recipe.

The "bird" you show is a rooster, and these male birds can be very agressive. Geese are worse and I have been bitten by them when I was little-and yes they chased me too. Shanti/Mary-Anne

Thanks Chef!!! Interesting thanks giving recipe for vegetarians. And the story is interesting... i can also identify myself with this. I was also been aggressively attacked by a cock (Rooster) in childhood in my village. We used to go to our village to attain Chhat Puja (A very famous and pious worship in North India, Ganesh has posted beautiful description of this http://ifood.tv/blog/visuals_of_chhath_puja_from_india_1 ) I was five-six year old at that time. That red big cock is still alive in my eyes, moving briskly here and there with cracking sound. That was reared by a fellow villager and I happened to buy chocolates from their house that ran a small grocery shop. I am not able recalled it properly that what i did to aggravate the cock, but somehow that cock attacked me and I stooped running only after reaching the home with empty hand (chocolates were drooped some where) with abrasion and bruise on my Knee and elbow... Back home I learnt that this cock (Called Deshi Murga in Hindi) was notorious for it’s biting. Next year while I was in village for Chhat puja, the first thing which I was looking for was the cock… Some people described that was really tasty…
