Veal A La Mode

Ingredients
  Rolled boned veal shoulder 5 Pound
  Vegetable shortening 2 Tablespoon
  Onion flavor salad dressing mix 1 Ounce (1 sachet)
  Apple juice 1 Cup (16 tbs)
  White onion 16 , peeled
  Potatoes 2 Medium, peeled and cubed for 2 cups
  Carrots 2 , peeled and cubed (2 cups
  Parsnips 2 , peeled and cubed (2 cups
  Canned mushrooms 6 Ounce (1 can)
  All purpose flour 3 Tablespoon
Directions

MAKING
1) Into a dutch oven or electric skillet, dab in some butter and cook the veal till browned evenly
2) Add in the salad dressing mix and the apple juice and cook till a gentle boil
3) Simmer the meat for an hour turning the meat once
4) Add in the onions and simmer again for 30 minutes
5) Then add in the carrots and parsnips and simmer till the meat and vegetables are cooked through
6) Drain the canned mushrooms, reserving the liquid
7) Add the mushrooms to the vegetables, blend in the flour till smooth and stir into the vegetables
8) Cook the sauce till it thickens
9) Onto a carving board, slice the veal and place them onto a platter

SERVING
10) Onto a platter, arrange the vegetables all around and top the slices with the sauce and serve with some crusty bread
