Veal Chops Lucullus

Ingredients
  Veal chops 4 , cut 1 inch thick
  Thin ham slices 4
  Thin swiss cheese slices 4
  Butter/Shortening 1 Tablespoon
  Hot water 1 Cup (16 tbs)
  Salt To Taste
  Pepper To Taste
Directions

Make pocket in each veal chop.
Sprinkle with seasonings.
Insert ham and cheese in pocket.
Secure with toothpicks.
Brown on both sides in hot fat.
Remove excess fat.
Add hot water.
Cover.
Simmer until chops are tender.
If desired, thicken gravy.
