Vanilla Blancmange

Ingredients
  Milk 2 1⁄4 Cup (36 tbs)
  Cornstarch 3 Tablespoon
  Sugar 1⁄3 Cup (5.33 tbs)
  Salt 1⁄4 Teaspoon
  Vanilla extract 1 Teaspoon
Directions

In medium saucepan, slowly heat 2 cups milk just until bubbles form around edge of pan.
In small bowl, combine cornstarch, sugar, salt, and remaining milk; stir to mix well.
Gradually stir cornstarch mixture into hot milk; bring to boiling, stirring.
Boil 1 minute, stirring constantly.
Remove from heat.
Add vanilla.
Turn into 6 individual dessert dishes; place piece of waxed paper directly on surface of each.
Refrigerate 1 hour before serving.
Serve with whipped cream or Strawberry Sauce, , or Quick Chocolate Sauce, .
Makes 6 servings.
Coconut Blanc Mange: Make Vanilla Blanc Mange, adding 1/2 cup flaked coconut to hot milk.
Also, use 1/4 teaspoon almond extract, and reduce vanilla extract to 1/2 teaspoon.
Mocha Blanc Mange: Make Vanilla Blanc Mange, adding 1 square unsweetened chocolate, halved, to milk along with 1 teaspoon instant coffee.
Heat, stirring, until chocolate is melted.
Proceed as directed, increasing sugar to 1/2 cup.
Chocolate Blanc Mange: Make Vanilla Blanc Mange, adding 2 squares unsweetened chocolate, halved, to milk.
Heat, stirring, until chocolate is melted.
Proceed as directed, increasing sugar to 1/2 cup.
