Beef Wellington In Puffed Pastry

CookingMyWay's picture
My version of a beef wellington...
  Tournedos 2
  Shallots 2 Large
  Garlic cloves 2
  Chopped mushrooms 1 1⁄2 Cup (24 tbs)
  Butter 2 Tablespoon
  Olive oil 2 Tablespoon
  Pre made puff pastry 1
Blue cheese 1 Cup (16 tbs)
  Egg 1 (For Egg Wash)

pre-heat oven to 475. Salt and pepper the tournedos and roast them in the oven for 5-10 minutes. In a pan add the butter and oil and bring to a medium heat. Once at temperature add the shallots, garlic, and mushrooms - stir often. Once done move to a plate to cool. Lay out the puff pastry on a sheet pan. In the middle of one of the pastry sheets place a nice portion of the blue cheese. Top with 1/4 cup of the mushroom mixture. Place the fillet directly on top of the mixture. Brush the edges of the pastry with the egg wash and fold the sides in to make a nice package. Brush the outside of the pastry with the egg wash. Bake seam side down at 425 until the pastry is GBD - about 25 minutes or so. Enjoy...

I was watching a podcast of ctrl alt chicken that was about beef wellington. It was a disaster - they called on people to make their own and send them a photo - I did a video... :) Nikko
Beef Wellington is a classic dish which is intimidating for many home cooks. Here, the chef has created his own version which is pretty easier than the classic recipe yet uncompromised on the taste. This succulent dish is a great dinner recipe for two or more and never fails to impress the guests. For the coming Christmas, serve beef wellington instead of Turkey for a twist in the tale.
