Chicago Style Hot Dogs
|Pure beef hot dogs||6|
|Poppy seed hot dog rolls||6|
|Yellow mustard||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)|
|Sweet pickle relish||3⁄4 Cup (12 tbs)|
|Chopped onion||1 Cup (16 tbs)|
|Tomatoes||2 Large, each cut into 6 wedges|
|Pickled sport pepper/Yellow wax peppers/pepperoncini/pickled banana peppers, mild||12 (Hot)|
|Drained sauerkraut||1 Cup (16 tbs)|
|Celery salt||To Taste|
1)Making the Hot Dogs: Heat a large pot filled with water to just below boiling temperature.
2)Put the hot dogs in to the pot.
3)Wait for about 5 minutes till they pop up to the top of the water when they are done.
4)Steaming the Hot Dogs: Boil water in a steamer.
5)Arrange the hot dogs on the steamer racks and cook for about 6 minutes till done.
6)Steaming the Rolls:
7)Keep the rolls on the steamer racks and steam for about 45 seconds to 1 minute.
8)On a table, keep the mustard, relish, onion, tomatoes, peppers, and sauerkraut in separate bowls.
9)Keep a celery salt shaker on the table along with the bowls.
10)Ask the guests to make their own hot dogs.
