Texas Style Chili

Ingredients
  Beef round steak 2 1⁄4 Pound, cubed
  Garlic 1 Clove (5 gm), crushed
  Cooking oil 3 Tablespoon
  Canned condensed beef broth 10 1⁄2 Ounce (1 can)
  Sugar 2 Teaspoon
  Dried oregano leaves 2 Teaspoon, crushed
  Cumin seed 2 Teaspoon, crushed
  Bay leaves 2
  Chilli pepper 4 Ounce, diced, seeded and mashed (1 jar)
  Cornmeal 2 Tablespoon
Directions

In large skillet brown the steak cubes and garlic in hot oil; drain off excess fat. (Electric skillet 350°.)
Add beef broth, 1 1/2 cups water, the sugar, oregano, cumin, 1/2 teaspoon salt, and bay leaves.
Reduce heat (220°.); simmer till meat is tender, about 1 1/2 hours.
Stir in chili peppers and cornmeal.
Simmer 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Remove bay leaves.
Serve over corn bread, if desired.
