Texas Bar Cookies
|Shortening||1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)|
|Firmly packed brown sugar||1 Cup (16 tbs)|
|All purpose flour||1 Cup (16 tbs)|
|Baking powder||1 Teaspoon|
|Nuts||1 Cup (16 tbs), chopped|
|Vanilla extract||1 Teaspoon|
Cream shortening and sugar until smooth.
Add egg and beat well.
Stir in flour and baking powder which have been combined.
Then stir in nuts and vanilla extract.
Bake in a greased 8-inch-square pan at 300° for 30 minutes.
Cut into bars while still warm.
