Harvest Torte

Harvest torte is a fresh and delightful dessert made with tart apples and california walnuts combined along with flour and dates. Baked to perfection the harvest torte is a true country dessert and is best served with whipped cream.
Ingredients
  Diced unpared tart apples 4 Cup (64 tbs)
  Sugar 1 Cup (16 tbs)
  Enriched flour 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs), sifted
  Baking powder 2 Teaspoon
  Egg 1
  Melted butter/Margarine 1 Tablespoon
  Vanilla 1 Teaspoon
  California walnuts 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs), broken
  Pitted dates 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs), cut up
Directions

Combine all ingredients.
Mix thoroughly do not beat.
Turn into greased 8x8x2 inch pan.
Bake in hot oven (400°) 40 minutes, or till apples are tender (test with fork).
Cut in 6 to 8 squares.
Serve with whipped cream.
