Ingredients
Meringues:
  Egg whites 6
  Cream of tartar 1⁄4 Teaspoon
  Sugar 1 Cup (16 tbs)
  Sifted powdered sugar 1 1⁄2 Cup (24 tbs)
  Almond extract 1 Teaspoon
  Allspice 1 Dash
  Mace 1 Dash
Directions

GETTING READY
1 Preheat the oven to 250┬░Fahrenheit.

MAKING
2 In a bowl, beat egg whites until foamy.
3 Add in cream of tartar, mixing well.
4 Continue beating until egg whites hold a stiff peak.
5 Gradually, mix in sugar and powdered sugar, one tablespoon at a time, beating well after each addition.
6 Add in extract, allspice and mace; beating constantly for another 2 minutes.
7 From heavy brown paper, cut four 8-inch circles
8 Divide meringue into 4 parts .
9 Over the circles of paper, spread evenly.
10 Place on baking sheets.
11 Bake in the oven for 1 hour 15 minutes.
12 Remove from the oven.
13 Allow to cool.

SERVING
14 Remove paper from bottom of meringue layers and serve as desired.
