Almond Brandy Torte

Ingredients
  Eggs 3
  Sugar 1 Cup (16 tbs)
  Ground mace 1 Teaspoon
  Grated lemon rind 2 Tablespoon (Rind Of 2 Lemons)
  Fine dry bread crumbs 1 Cup (16 tbs)
  Brandy 1 Cup (16 tbs) (Of Good Quality)
  Finely ground blanched almonds 1⁄2 Pound (1 3/4 Cups)
  Lemon icing 1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs) (Simple One)
  Toasted almonds 4 Tablespoon, cut into halves
Directions

Beat eggs and sugar until light.
Add mace and lemon rind.
Stir in bread crumbs and brandy alternately.
Blend in almonds.
Pour into greased and floured deep 8-inch cake pan.
Bake in preheated moderate oven (350°F.) for 30 to 35 minutes, or until cake tests done.
Cool.
Ice with Simple Lemon Icing.
Decorate top with toasted almond halves.
Makes 12 servings.
