Almond Brandy Torte
|Sugar||1 Cup (16 tbs)|
|Ground mace||1 Teaspoon|
|Grated lemon rind||2 Tablespoon (Rind Of 2 Lemons)|
|Fine dry bread crumbs||1 Cup (16 tbs)|
|Brandy||1 Cup (16 tbs) (Of Good Quality)|
|Finely ground blanched almonds||1⁄2 Pound (1 3/4 Cups)|
|Lemon icing||1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs) (Simple One)|
|Toasted almonds||4 Tablespoon, cut into halves|
Beat eggs and sugar until light.
Add mace and lemon rind.
Stir in bread crumbs and brandy alternately.
Blend in almonds.
Pour into greased and floured deep 8-inch cake pan.
Bake in preheated moderate oven (350°F.) for 30 to 35 minutes, or until cake tests done.
Ice with Simple Lemon Icing.
Decorate top with toasted almond halves.
Makes 12 servings.
