Christine's Apple Torte

  Sugar 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)
  Butter 1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs), softened
  Water 4 Teaspoon
  Vanilla extract 1⁄4 Teaspoon
  All purpose flour 1 Cup (16 tbs)
  Cooking spray 1
  Sugar 1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)
  Vanilla extract 1⁄2 Teaspoon
  Fat free cream cheese 8 Ounce (1 Block)
  Egg 1 Large
  Diced peeled rome apple 4 Cup (64 tbs)
  Ground cinnamon 1⁄2 Teaspoon
  Coarsely chopped walnuts 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)

1. Preheat oven to 450°.
2. To prepare crust, beat first 4 ingredients with a mixer at medium speed until well blended. Lightly spoon flour into a dry measuring
Apple Torte cup, level with a knife. Add flour to sugar mixture, beating at medium ! to low speed until well blended. Press crust into bottom and 3/4 inch up sides of a 9-inch springform pan coated with cooking spray.
3. To prepare filling, beat 1/4 cup sugar, 1/2 teaspoon vanilla, cream cheese, and egg with a mixer at low speed until smooth. Pour cream cheese mixture into prepared crust. Combine apple, 1/2 cup sugar, and ground cinnamon in a bowl. Spread apple mixture evenly over cream cheese mixture,- sprinkle with nuts.
4. Bake at 450° for 10 minutes. Reduce oven temperature to 400° (do not remove torte from oven),- bake an additional 15 minutes or until lightly browned and filling is set. Cool on a wire rack. Garnish with cinnamon sticks, if desired.
