Brownie Mint Torte

Ingredients
  Egg whites 3
  Salt 1 Dash
  Sugar 3⁄4 Cup (12 tbs)
  Vanilla 1⁄2 Teaspoon
  Fine chocolate wafer crumbs 3⁄4 Cup (12 tbs)
  Chopped walnut meats 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)
  Whipping cream 1⁄2 Pint (1 Cup)
  Sugar To Taste
  Crushed peppermint stick candy 1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)
  Unsweetened chocolate 1 Ounce, shaved (1 Square)
Directions

Beat egg whites and salt until soft peaks form.
Add the 3/4 cup sugar, 1 tablespoon at a time, beating after each addition until glossy.
Beat in vanilla.
Fold in crumbs and nut meats.
Spread in buttered 9-inch pie pan, piling meringue high at sides.
Bake in slow oven (325°) 35 minutes.
Let cool.
About 3 hours before you're ready to serve, whip cream until stiff; fold in sugar to taste, and crushed peppermint candy.
Pile the peppermint cream into chocolate shell.
Chill.
Before serving, trim with curls of shaved chocolate.
