Fried Tomatoes

Ingredients
  Tomatoes 4 Medium
  Milk 3 Tablespoon
  Flour 1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)
  Salt 1⁄4 Teaspoon
  Pepper 1 Dash
  Sugar 3⁄4 Teaspoon
  Egg 1
  Salted soda biscuit crumbs 3⁄4 Cup (12 tbs)
  Butter 3 Tablespoon
Directions

Cut stem ends from tomatoes and cut each tomato into 2 thick slices.
Put milk in a flat dish.
Combine flour, salt, pepper and sugar in another flat dish.
Beat egg in a third dish and put crumbs in another one.
Dip tomato slices in each of these, in order, to give the tomato slices a good coating on both sides.
Heat butter in large heavy skillet.
Add tomato slices and fry gently until golden for about 3 minutes per side.
Serve immediately.
