Scalloped Tomatoes

Ingredients
  Butter/Margarine 4 Tablespoon
  Minced onion 1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)
  Fresh bread crumbs 2 1⁄4 Cup (36 tbs)
  Sugar 1⁄2 Teaspoon
  Salt 1 Teaspoon
  Pepper 1⁄4 Teaspoon
  Cayenne 1 Dash
  Canned tomatoes 29 Ounce
Directions

Preheat oven to 375°F.
In small saucepan, in 3 tablespoons butter, saute onion until tender.
Add 2 cups of the bread crumbs, sugar, salt, pepper, cayenne.
In greased 1 1/2-quart casserole, arrange layer of tomatoes; top with layer of onion-bread mixture; repeat until all is used, ending with tomatoes on top.
Combine 1/4 cup bread crumbs with 1 tablespoon butter, melted; sprinkle over tomatoes.
Bake, uncovered, 45 minutes.
