Ingredients
  Butter/Margarine 1 Cup (16 tbs)
  Sugar 1 Cup (16 tbs)
  Water 3 Tablespoon
  Light corn syrup 1 Tablespoon
  Semi-sweet chocolate squares 8 (1 Package, Baker'S)
  Chopped toasted blanched almonds 2⁄3
Directions

Melt butter in heavy 2-quart saucepan over very low heat.
Add sugar and stir until mixture starts to boil.
Combine water and corn syrup; blend into sugar mixture.
Cook and stir over medium heat until mixture comes to a boil.
Reduce heat; cover and cook 3 minutes.
Uncover and cook gently, stirring frequently to prevent burning, until a small amount of mixture forms a hard and brittle thread in cold water (or to a temperature of 300°).
Remove from heat.
Stir in 1/2 cup almonds.
Spread evenly in well-buttered 15 x 10-inch jelly roll pan.
Let stand until almost cool to the touch.
Melt 4 squares of the chocolate in saucepan over very low heat, stirring constantly until smooth.
Spread over toffee; then sprinkle with 1/2 cup of the remaining almonds.
Let stand until chocolate is firm.
Turn toffee out onto waxed paper.
(Toffee may break.) Melt remaining 4 squares chocolate and spread over toffee.
Sprinkle with remaining 1/2 cup almonds.
Let stand until chocolate is firm.
Break into pieces.
