Caramel Apples

Ingredients
  Chopped peanuts 1 1⁄2 Cup (24 tbs)
  Firm apples 6 , washed and dried
  Vanilla 1 Teaspoon
  Baking soda 1 Teaspoon
  Sugar 3⁄4 Cup (12 tbs)
  Butter 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)
  White corn syrup 1⁄8 Cup (2 tbs)
Directions

Place peanuts in a shallow bowl; set aside.
Insert wooden skewers into the stem end of apples.
In a small dish, stir together vanilla and baking soda; set aside.
In a heavy saucepan, place sugar, butter, and corn syrup.
Cook over medium heat, stirring to blend.
Continue to cook until mixture reaches 300° F.
on a candy thermometer.
Stir in vanilla mixture.
Dip and twist apples in hot caramel until coated.
Roll apples in nuts.
Place on waxed paper to harden.
