Angels and Devils on Horseback - I was laughing aloud initially seeing the recipe name. Only when I tried the Angels and Devils on Horseback did I know this is no joke. Oysters, ham and bacon - my oh my! What else can make a heavenly treat.
Thinly sliced, fully cooked ham strips
Thin rye bread slices
Wrap 24 oysters in bacon to make the devils.
Wrap remaining 24 oysters in ham strips for the angels.
Place bacon-wrapped oysters on a broiler pan.
Broil 4 to 5 inches from heat source 3 minutes, or until bacon is crisp on top side.
Turn bacon-wrapped oysters, and add ham-wrapped oysters to pan.
Broil 2 minutes, or until bacon is crisp and ham is lightly browned.
Remove bacon-wrapped oysters, drain on paper towels, keep warm.
Turn ham-wrapped oysters.
Broil 1 or 2 minutes, or until brown on second side.
Meanwhile, lightly toast bread, cut each slice into 4 triangles.
Place one oyster on each toast triangle.
