Som Tam (Thai Papaya Salad)

Som Tam is extremely popular not only in Thailand but all across the world. This is one recipe that is all in one, extremely nutritious, very low in fat and calories, tastes extremely good and is super filling. Hey! what else would you ask for? The crunchiness of papaya give you a kick which is compounded by chili flakes and works beautifully with the tanginess of lemon juice.
Ingredients
  Raw papaya 1⁄2 Pound, grated
  Lemon juice 2 Tablespoon
  Sugar 1 Tablespoon
  Chilli flakes 1 Teaspoon
  Soy sauce 1 Tablespoon
  Roasted peanuts 1 1⁄4 Tablespoon
  Cilantro sprigs 8 (for garnish)
Directions

MAKING
1.Whisk together sugar with lemon juice and soy sauce unless sugar dissolves.
2.Add grated papaya and toss in peanuts.
3.Sprinkle chili flakes and give it one more toss.

SERVING
4.Garnish with cilantro sprigs and serve.

TIPS
You could make it healthier by adding tomatoes and sprouts.

Story
This is an extremely easy dish to make, all you have to do is mix grated raw papaya with a bunch of ingredients and viola, a delightful recipe is all ready to be served. This salad is a regular dinner side dish in our house, you must have guessed why..(of course, extremely east to prepare and still tastes good). I was going through my regular weekly vegetable market in our locality and these gorgeous looking papayas caught my attention and well the automatic though was to make salad. Well, at times I add tomatoes and bean sprouts to it nut this time around I decided to do away with it and serve it simple with roasted chicken. And it worked very well. You should push all your excuses out of the way and must try this refreshing yet delicious salad.
