Can you imagine a Christmas lunch or a thanksgiving party without the traditional pumpkin pie? No winter celebration is complete without the mouth-watering delicacy. Read these simple how to bake pumpkin pie steps to prepare the dessert using fresh pumpkin which is also a symbol of harvest.







Required Ingredients:


Sugar pumpkin - This is the key ingredient of your dish and you will need 1 medium sized sugar pumpkin.

To cut down on the cooking time, use readymade frozen piecrusts – 2

Large eggs – 4, these will be added to the pie filling.

Milk or cream – 250 ml to provide the needed moisture to the pie filling.

Sugar – This gives sweetness as well as color to the dish. Add about 110 gms for an 6-inch diameter pumpkin.

Ground cinnamond - for that dramatic flavor in the pie.

Ground nutmeg - to enhance the flavor and aroma of the dish.


The Procedure:


1 Start with preparing the filling for which you have to cut the top off from the pumpkin. Make sure you do not choose too large a pumpkin as the big ones are for carving purpose and won't make the pie taste equally good.


2 Scoop out the seeds thoroughly and clean up the inside. Discard the seeds.


3 Cut the shell into dices, since it will be cooked it is not necessary to cut it evenly.


4 In a large pan, add the pumpkin and boil until tender. Remove the skin at this step since it will come off with no effort.


5 Or, you can choose to roast the pumpkin in the oven at 275 to 300 degrees Fahrenheit until soft. Roasting the pumpkin will keep the nutrients intact, which are otherwise lost in the boiling method


6 In a blender jar, add the cooked pumpkin along with milk, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and blend throughly.


7 In two separate bowls, pour about one cup mixture each. This is for preparing the mixture separately for the 2 pie crusts.


8 To each bowl, add two eggs and mix thoroughly, this will help in binding the mixture.


9 Preheat the oven at least 15 minutes in advance to the mentioned time or to 375 degrees Fahrenheit.


10 Transfer the prepared mixture in two piecrusts from the bowls and even out using a spatula.


11 Cover the edges with foil properly, this will avoid burning of the crust.


12 Place the pies on the same rack in the oven for 45 minutes. This is done to ensure even cooking of both the pies.


13 Remove from the oven when cooked and let them cool at room temperature.
