|Sugar||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)|
|Boiling water||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)|
|Cold water||1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)|
Combine the sugar and cold water in a heavy saucepan.
Swirl the mixture until the sugar dissolves.
Do not stir.
Add the boiling water.
Boil over medium heat, without stirring, until the syrup is the color of butterscotch.
Remove from the heat.
