Poached Pears In Wine Syrup
|Sugar||1 Cup (16 tbs)|
|Red wine||2 Cup (32 tbs)|
|Chopped candied ginger||1 Teaspoon|
|Anjou pears||4 , cut in half, core removed but peel left on|
Place the sugar, wine, allspice, ginger, and cinnamon stick in a 10 inch round glass baking dish.
Bring to the boiling point on the highest setting.
It will take approximately for 4 minutes.
Cook on "simmer" setting for 10 minutes.
Arrange the pears in the dish and cook on the highest setting for 5 minutes.
Leave the pears to cool in the syrup.
Chill for 4 hours before serving.
