Mom's Cutout Sugar Cookies's picture
  Sugar 1 Cup (16 tbs)
  Butter 1 Cup (16 tbs), softened (2 Sticks)
  Vegetable oil 1 Cup (16 tbs)
  Eggs 2
  Vanilla 1 Teaspoon
  Flour 4 3⁄4 Cup (76 tbs)
  Salt 1 Teaspoon
  Cream of tartar 1 Teaspoon
  Butter 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs), melted (1 Stick)
  Confectioner's sugar 1 Pound (1 Package)
  Evaporated milk 1 Cup (16 tbs)

Combine the 1 cup confectioners' sugar, sugar, 1 cup butter and vegetable oil in a large mixing bowl and beat until smooth.
Beat in the eggs, vanilla and butter flavoring.
Sift together the flour, salt and cream of tartar and add gradually to the sugar mixture, beating well after each addition.
Chill, covered, for 1 hour.
Roll 1/8 inch thick on a pastry sheet dusted with confectioners' sugar.
Cut with a cookie cutter and placed on a greased cookie sheet.
Bake at 375 degrees for 8 to 10 minutes or until edges are slightly golden.
Remove to a wire rack and cool.
Combine the 1/2 cup butter and the 1 pound confectioners' sugar in a mixing bowl and beat until smooth.
Beat in enough evaporated milk until of spreading consistency.
Separate into several portions and tint with different colors of food coloring.
Frost cookies and sprinkle with candy sprinkles.
