Rolled Sugar Cookies
|Butter||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs), softened|
|Sugar||1 Cup (16 tbs)|
|Milk||1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)|
|All purpose flour||2 1⁄4 Cup (36 tbs)|
|Baking powder||2 Teaspoon|
|Ground mace||1⁄2 Teaspoon|
Cream together butter and sugar.
Add egg, milk, and vanilla; beat well.
Stir together flour, baking powder, salt, and mace, if desired.
Blend into creamed mixture.
Divide in half.
Cover; chill 1 hour.
On lightly floured surface, roll each half to 1/8-inch thickness for thin cookies or 1/4-inch thickness for thick cookies.
Cut in desired shapes with cookie cutters.
Place on an ungreased cookie sheet.
Bake at 375°, 7 to 8 minutes for thin cookies or 10 to 12 minutes for thick cookies.
