Rolled Sugar Cookies

Ingredients
  Sugar 1 Cup (16 tbs)
  Butter/Margarine 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs), softened
  Egg 1
  Milk 1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)
  Vanilla 1⁄2 Teaspoon
  All purpose flour 2 1⁄4 Cup (36 tbs)
  Baking powder 2 Teaspoon
  Salt 1⁄2 Teaspoon
  Ground mace 1⁄2 Teaspoon
Directions

In mixer bowl cream together sugar and butter.
Add egg, milk, and vanilla; beat well.
Stir together flour, baking powder, salt, and mace, if desired.
Blend into creamed mixture.
Cover; chill 1 hour.
Divide dough in half.
On lightly floured surface, roll each half to 1/8 inch thickness for thin cookies or 1/4-inch thickness for thick cookies.
Cut into desired shapes with cookie cutters.
Place on an ungreased cookie sheet.
Decorate with candies, if desired.
Bake in a 375°F oven for 7 to 8 minutes for thin cookies or 10 to 12 minutes for thick cookies.
