Sugar Plum Balls
|Prunes||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)|
|Dried apricots||1⁄3 Cup (5.33 tbs)|
|Shortening||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs) (Part Butter)|
|Vanilla extract||1⁄2 Teaspoon|
|Undiluted evaporated milk||1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)|
|All purpose flour||1 3⁄4 Cup (28 tbs)|
|Powdered sugar||3⁄4 Cup (12 tbs), divided|
Rinse prunes and apricots, cover with cold water, bring to a boil, and boil for 5 minutes.
Drain and cool.
Cut prunes from pits and chop.
Cream shortening thoroughly and gradually blend in vanilla extract and milk.
Combine flour, salt, and 1/3 cup powdered sugar and blend into creamed mixture.
Add fruits and mix well.
Shape into 1 -inch balls and place on greased cookie sheets.
Bake at 375° for 8 to 10 minutes.
Roll in powdered sugar, if desired
