Brown Sugar Drops
|Shortening/Part butter/ margarine||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)|
|Packed brown sugar||1 Cup (16 tbs)|
|Buttermilk/Soured milk/ water||1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)|
|Gold medal flour||1 3⁄4 Cup (28 tbs)|
|Chopped nuts||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)|
Mix shortening, brown sugar, and egg thoroughly.
Stir in milk.
Measure flour by dipping method or by sifting.
Blend flour, soda, salt, and nuts; stir in.
Chill at least 1 hr.
Heat oven to 400° (mod. hot).
Drop rounded tea-spoonfuls of dough 2" apart on greased baking sheet.
Bake 8 to 10 min., or until almost no imprint remains when touched lightly.
