Fresh Strawberries a la Colony
|Sugar||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)|
|Cointreau/Grand marnier||1⁄3 Cup (5.33 tbs)|
|Vanilla ice cream||1⁄2 Pint|
|Heavy cream||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)|
|Almond extract||1⁄4 Teaspoon|
1. Gently wash berries in cold water. Drain on paper towels; hull. Turn into large serving bowl; sprinkle with sugar and Cointreau, and toss gently. Refrigerate 1 hour, stirring occasionally.
2. Let the ice cream soften in refrigerator about 1 hour.
3. Beat heavy cream just until stiff. Fold in almond extract. Gently fold whipped cream and softened ice cream into strawberry mixture.
4. Serve at once
