Organising your freezer will enable you to get the most out of it, and the food you place in it. Here's a few tips to keep in mind.
Designate sections of the freezer for categories of food. Aside from ice cubes and ice cream, the big 4 are proteins, vegetables, fruit and baked goods. If you have room, it's also helpful to keep one section for quick chilling or freezing. To conserve space, store food in bags rather than rigid plastic containers. Freezer bags save space and help preserve the quality of frozen food by allowing only a minimum of oxygen to touch the food. Freeze foods as soon as they are packaged and sealed. Always label the food with contents, the freezing date and the expiration date.
